Abstract

This case report documents the placement of implant fixtures in central and lateral incisor
ectraction sockets, with residual infection of extraction socket developing periapical pathosis.
Between the two implants of this patient, only lateral incisor site implant have had a apical
radiolucency but it has been still osseointegrated. An localized osteomyelitis developed around
the implant apex. Fourteen months after placement, the apex of fixture had to be removed by
apicoectomy procedure. Several possible causes for this occurrence are discussed.
